ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGER (EO) - MARKET SURVEILLANCE AND DANGEROUS GOODS (MSDG) BRANCH

Location: Midlands Centre - Nuneaton
Reporting to: Head of section
Grade: Senior Executive Officer (EO) - Pay Band 3 - Salary Range: £21,000 - £25,480

Description:

As the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Adminstrative Manager you will lead a small team to provide administrative, documentary and organisational support to the Enforcement Managers, Officers and Market Researchers, in order that they can enforce legislation applicable to the WEEE Directive. Reporting directly to the Head of Section you will be required to focus on the forward planning and communication aspects of an Enforcement team working throughout the UK. This is a temporary position which will be reviewed in December 2009.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Organising documents and data to assist Enforcement officers to carry out inspections in the UK and assisting in the preparation of documents for potential court cases;
  • Organise and arrange for Market Researchers, to carry out research duties;
  • Prioritising work to ensure urgent customer and staff queries are dealt with promptly and efficiently;
  • Liaising with customers by phone, letter and e-mail as well as dealing with visitors;
  • Financial duties including providing monthly budgets and spreadsheets as required by Section head;
  • Carry out final checks to ensure quality standards are maintained and all documents are issued error free;
  • General Support for line management as required;
  • Line Management of 3 staff

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills;
  • Good organisational / planning skills;
  • Experience of managing staff;
  • Experience of dealing with financial matters;
  • Accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Be prepared to be flexible, as the section's work portfolio and priorities change;
  • Able to work to targets.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of dealing with financial matters
  • Current clean driving licence and willingness to travel on VCA business as necessary.
