You will learn:
This course is designed to enable environmental practitioners to implement a system in accordance with the requirements of the standard.
Learning outcomes:
- Understanding the clauses of the standard, and practical methods of implementation.
- Understanding how environmental aspects can be assessed and control methods for relevant impacts identified.
- Understanding the relevance of objectives, target, monitoring and measurement in demonstrating 'continual improvement.
- Understanding the requirements related to compliance and compliance reviews.
- Understanding the function of internal audit within the management system.
Delivery options:
This particular course can also be delivered in a series of workshops, providing valuable time for implementation between the sessions, and allows time for questions, queries and answers on problems you might encounter.
Courses can be delivered in your workplace or at an off-site venue, which ever suits you best.
Pre-requisites:
Candidates require a basic knowledge of mainstream environmental issues (e.g. global warming and why we should reduce energy use, general waste issues, such as recycling schemes etc.). Candidates should have access to and have read the ISO 14001:2004 standard prior to the course. It is beneficial (certainly essential for the workshops) if candidates have practical exercises to work on in their workplace after the training to consolidate their understanding.
Materials and recognition:
A comprehensive set of learning materials will be supplied to support the course, which are also designed to act as a valuable data resource going forward. A certificate of recognition will be supplied to all successful candidates.
